Corporate development professional with over 30 years of international experience in growing natural resources companies through acquisitions and complex multi-disciplined projects.  


Broad experience obtained from successful roles for leading companies in the following areas:


  • Corporate Development – M&A (buy-side & sell-side), strategy, portfolio and asset management

  • Management Consulting - transaction services, M&A advisory and lender’s advisory

  • Technical Consulting - feasibility studies, market studies, engineering, project controls, contract administration and project execution


Worked on numerous large M&A, IPO and privatisation transactions in multiple jurisdictions globally.  Independent Technical Adviser / Lender’s Engineer for project finance, structured trade and commodity trade finance, and export credit agency finance for projects in Australasia, Africa, China, Europe, Middle East, Russia and South America.


Founder and Managing Director of Global Transaction Partners (GTP) which provides comprehensive independent techno-economic, environmental, social and governance (TESG) due diligence services to support our clients when undertaking M&A transactions; along with acting as Lender’s Advisor to support the global lending community.  Assembling bespoke multi-disciplinary teams to support our clients with rigorous assessments to meet the specific needs of each unique transaction.  GTP mobilises teams with the requisite deep domain expertise across the minerals & metals, hydrocarbons, chemicals, energy and infrastructure sectors.


Prior to founding Global Transaction Partners, Stephen was Executive Vice President for Advisian (WorleyParsons Group) with global service line responsibility for Transaction Services based in London.  Providing M&A Advisory and Lender’s Advisory for hydrocarbons, minerals, metals, chemicals, infrastructure and power sectors.  He also led Advisian’s Minerals & Metals sector team for Europe, Russia and Central Asia.


Stephen was a Senior Business Development Manager for both Anglo American in London and Mubadala in Abu Dhabi prior to joining Advisian.  Whilst at Anglo, he focused on inorganic growth opportunities in bulk commodities including metallurgical coal, iron ore, thermal coal and manganese.  Whilst at Mubadala, he was responsible for both organic growth through mega projects in the aluminium and alumina sub-sector and inorganic growth through M&A in the broad minerals and metals sector. 


He earned a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours from the Queensland University of Technology and a Master of Business Administration from The University of Queensland.  He also undertook an Executive Leadership course at INSEAD.
