Ruth Allington
Associate (MBA, FGS, CGeol, EurGeol, FIMMM, CEng) Oxfordshire, UK
Ruth is an engineering geologist, with 39 years’ experience specialising in the whole life design of open pit mineral operations in the UK and overseas. In addition to BSc and MSc degrees, she also has an MBA, and is a qualified commercial and community mediator and facilitator. She is an experienced expert witness, trainer and mentor.
For a range of clients from governments to mineral operators and community groups, her unique combination of technical and facilitative expertise contributes to ensuring that mineral deposits are competently explored, evaluated and reported; that mineral resources with local or strategic importance are safeguarded in local and national spatial plans; and that mines and quarries are designed, operated and closed responsibly.
In 2012, she delivered the 13th Glossop Lecture and received the Glossop Medal awarded by the Engineering Group of the Geological Society of London. In 2013, she was featured in the Women in Mining list of 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining.
